1. Map My Walk

Walking is a low-impact activity that can be done anywhere, including on the grounds of The Club. Nothing is nicer than a stroll around our lovely interior courtyard amid fluttering butterflies, singing birds, rushing waterfalls, and imposing Magnolia trees. And Map My Walk, available on Android and iOS devices, makes it easy to clock your steps. As you walk, the app allows you to view distance, speed, pace, elevation, and the number of calories you’ve burned. It also provides audio feedback for visually impaired users. When you finish your stroll, you can save your workout data to your device. And while the app focuses on walking, it has the ability to monitor more than 600 different activities.

2. My Fitness Pal

If you’ve got iOS or Android, My Fitness Pal is a must, especially if you’re looking to shave off pounds or eat healthier. With its database of more than 11 million food items, the app counts calories, provides nutritional information and recipes, and recommends serving sizes. It also includes a barcode scanner so you can scan items at the grocery store and make healthier choices. Furthermore, the app features motivational workout tips and a food diary to help you keep track of your eating habits.

3. Johnson & Johnson 7-Minute Workout

With its short series of safe and customizable exercises that don’t require any equipment, this popular iOS and Android fitness app offers a high-energy, stamina-building workout. Users are challenged with jumping jacks, push-ups, step-ups, squats, jogging in place, and more. But don’t let that deter you; each of the activities, complete with demonstrations and audio encouragement, lasts for just 30 seconds, followed by 10-second periods of rest. It’s a great workout for those who want to increase their endurance, improve blood pressure, and build strong muscles. The 7-Minute Workout app includes a Smart Workout feature that analyzes your fitness and motivation levels, ensuring that the intensity of your fitness regimen is aligned with your lifestyle. There’s a First Timer option, too, that provides modified workouts for beginners.

4. 7-Minute Chi

If your goal is to meditate and move, then this energy-boosting iOS and Android app is for you. 7-Minute Chi uses simple exercises to recharge your health. Equipped with demonstrations from Master Li, the app offers breathing and posture techniques based on ancient Chinese meditation rituals. The easy-to-follow seven-minute routines, aimed at those who want to relax their minds and bodies, focus on improving joint stability, balance, mobility, and flexibility.

5. Flip50

Specifically designed for adults over 50, Flip50 is an intuitive wellness iOS app that helps you balance exercise, nutrition, and rest with personalized weekly plans. Plus, it offers advice and ideas for fitness activities you can do just about anywhere, including in your upscale Memory Care or Assisted Living apartment. Each day, the app suggests an activity (yoga or brisk walking, for example), healthy meals that favor flavor, or meditation/breathing exercises based on your needs. Love a certain activity or recipe? Save those to your “Favorites” and they’ll always be at your fingertips. On Sundays, the app sums up your weekly exercise, nutrition, and rest progress.
